A potential industrial disaster was averted on Sunday, February 15, 2026, when personnel of the Ho Municipal Fire Service swiftly contained a fire outbreak at a paint manufacturing company in the Ho West District of the Volta Region.
The late-morning fire destroyed one of the two production units at the facility, which stores and processes highly flammable paint materials. Firefighters responded promptly after receiving a distress call at about 11:29 a.m. and arrived at the scene within minutes, successfully preventing the flames from spreading to adjoining sections of the factory.
No injuries were recorded, although parts of the production area were damaged. Assistant Fire Station Officer Kwame Kyei said the rapid response was crucial in averting a major industrial fire, given the combustible nature of materials used in paint production.
The Ghana National Fire Service has commenced investigations to determine the cause of the fire, while management of the company has been advised to strictly adhere to fire safety protocols, particularly in the storage and handling of flammable chemicals.
Residents and workers in the area have also been urged to promptly report fire incidents to help minimise damage and save lives.
