Former Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Hon. Albert Kwasi Zigah, has renewed calls for transparency, accountability, and dialogue regarding the stalled St. Peter & Paul Junior High School (JHS) project in Aflao, which he initiated during his tenure between 2004 and 2008.

Speaking on Sam Kush’s Morning Drive programme on Holy 98.5 FM, and monitored by News Volta, Hon. Zigah expressed deep grief and disappointment over the prolonged abandonment of the project, describing the situation as painful and unfortunate.

Hon. Zigah revealed that significant personal financial resources were invested into the foundation and ground floor works of the project, which is designed as a storey building. He stressed that this deep personal commitment is the basis for his request that his name be permanently attached to the project in recognition of his contributions.

“I am saddened that a project into which I invested so much personally has been left uncompleted. A lot of money went into the foundation and the entire ground floor works. That is why I am asking that my name should remain part of this project,” he stated.

He clarified that his demand for recognition is not driven by ego or political ambition, but by principle, truth, and historical record.

Hon. Zigah further insisted on the need to clearly establish the sources of funding for the continuation of the project, stressing that transparency builds trust and prevents misinformation.

“I am trying to find out the true source of funding being used. This is about accountability and civil responsibility, not politics,” he emphasized.

He urged all stakeholders to focus on development, openness, and honesty, rather than politicizing the project.

Welcomes Dialogue with Torgbui Tenuvi II

Hon. Zigah also welcomed the readiness of Torgbui Tenuvi II, Mr. Felix Akonta Akakpo, to engage in constructive dialogue to resolve outstanding issues and ensure the successful completion of the Aflao school project.

He expressed optimism that open engagement and mutual understanding would help overcome differences and move the project forward in the interest of education and community development.

“I welcome the willingness of Torgbui Tenuvi II to meet and discuss the way forward. Dialogue is the best path toward resolving this matter and completing the project for the benefit of the people,” he said.

The St. Peter & Paul JHS project is considered a critical educational infrastructure for Aflao and surrounding communities. Residents have repeatedly called for its completion, citing overcrowding in existing schools and limited access to quality educational facilities.

Many community members believe that constructive dialogue among all parties could finally unlock progress and bring the long-stalled project to completion.

With renewed public attention, calls are growing for a transparent engagement process, involving traditional leaders, political authorities, project financiers, and community representatives, to ensure the timely and peaceful completion of the school.
