A technical team from Blue Ventures, Senegal, is scheduled to visit the Denu coastal community on Tuesday , February 24th 2026, as part of efforts to deepen stakeholder engagement and assess fishing activities and challenges within the sector.
The visit will involve brief stakeholder meetings with chief fishermen, leadership of canoe owners, women fish processors, crew members, and fish traders. The engagements aim to foster dialogue, gather insights, and better understand the realities, operational methods, and challenges facing fishing communities along the Keta Basin coastline.
In addition to the meetings, the team will tour various landing sites within the two communities to observe fishing practices, gear usage, post-harvest handling, and operational systems, while also identifying key issues affecting productivity, sustainability, and livelihoods.
The stakeholder meeting and field visit are being coordinated through Mr. Francis Bedzo, Volta Regional Organizer of the Canoes and Fishing Gear Owners Association of Ghana (CaFGOAG) unde Ministry of Fisheries Ghana
The main engagement session will take place at Dayitey Fe Mornu, Denu Landing Beach.
Stakeholders and community members are encouraged to participate actively and contribute meaningfully to discussions that could shape future interventions, policy recommendations, and sustainable fisheries development initiatives.
