The people of the Klikor Traditional Area in the Ketu South Constituency of the Volta Region have successfully enstooled a new Paramount Chief, Dr. Frank Hukporti, who now reigns as Torgbui Addo IX, following the sudden demise of Torgbui Addo VIII last week.

The enstoolment ceremony, held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, took place at Klikor in a brief but colourful traditional durbar, attended by chiefs, elders, family heads and residents of the traditional area.

According to traditional authorities, the swift enstoolment was necessary to ensure continuity of leadership and to enable the new Paramount Chief to chair and coordinate the remaining funeral arrangements for the late Torgbui Addo VIII, in line with custom.

Torgbui Addo IX is a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) and formerly served as the Director of Bands of the Ghana Police Service. He is also an accomplished academic, holding a PhD in Music (Ethnomusicology) from the University of Bayreuth, Germany. His background combines public service, scholarship, music, and community development.

Elders of the Klikor Traditional Area described his enstoolment as timely, expressing confidence in his leadership qualities, discipline, and deep understanding of tradition and culture.

The traditional council announced that Torgbui Addo IX’s coronation ceremony will be held at a later date, after the completion of all funeral rites for the late Torgbui Addo VIII.

The Klikor Traditional Area has since called on its people to rally behind the new Paramount Chief to promote unity, peace, and development within the area.
