Volta Chiefs, Regional Minister Engage Interior Minister On Strengthening Security Cooperation

A high-powered delegation from the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, led by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, in Accra to deliberate on security enhancement and deeper collaboration to safeguard the region.

The meeting focused on reinforcing intelligence sharing, community-based security, and sustained cooperation between traditional authorities and state security agencies to preserve peace in the Volta Region.

Hon. James Gunu expressed appreciation to the Interior Minister for granting the audience and reaffirmed the region’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry to protect lives, property, and investments. He described the Volta Region as a strategic destination for investors and stressed that sustained peace and security remain essential for economic growth and development.

Representing the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, the President of the House and Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, assured the Interior Minister of the chiefs’ unwavering commitment to supporting national security efforts. He noted that traditional leaders remain key partners in conflict prevention, intelligence gathering, and community engagement.

“Peace and security are collective responsibilities,” Togbe Tepre Hodo IV stated, adding that chiefs will continue to work with security agencies to ensure early detection of threats and swift resolution of potential conflicts.

In his response, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak commended the delegation for their proactive engagement and dedication to maintaining stability. He described the Volta Region as one of the most peaceful regions in the country, citing security data, and attributed this to strong collaboration between communities, traditional authorities, and state institutions.

The Interior Minister appealed to the chiefs to intensify their role in promoting vigilance, lawfulness, and cooperation with security agencies, assuring them of the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening security infrastructure and personnel deployment to sustain peace across the region.
