Development Must Not Be Politicized – Togbui Fiti V

By Hebrews Pouyeli Kumako

The Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area and President of the Aflao Traditional Council, Togbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V, has cautioned that national development should never be subjected to partisan politics or personal interests but must always be guided by the principles of fairness, equity, transparency, and the broader national interest.

According to the Paramount Chief, development projects financed with public resources belong to the people of Ghana and should be implemented strictly according to their approved scope and purpose, irrespective of political considerations or changes in government administration.

He called on government institutions, development partners, implementing agencies, and public officials to demonstrate integrity, accountability, and urgency in the execution of critical infrastructure projects, particularly those intended to protect vulnerable communities from environmental threats and promote economic growth.

Togbui Fiti V stressed that unnecessary delays, diversions, or interference with strategic government projects undermine public confidence and deny communities the developmental benefits they rightfully deserve.

He further reaffirmed the commitment of the Aflao Traditional Council and the people of Aflao to remain vigilant in monitoring all government projects earmarked for the municipality, ensuring that they are implemented faithfully and transparently for the benefit of present and future generations.

“Development must unite our people, not divide them. It must be driven by justice, fairness, and national interest—not partisan politics or personal ambition. The people of Aflao will continue to protect every legitimate project intended for their welfare and advancement,” the Paramount Chief stated.

He urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure that Ghana’s development agenda remains focused on improving lives, strengthening communities, and safeguarding the country’s long-term social and economic progress.
