Tension Brews in Ketu South, NDC Grassroots Demand Fair Share of Government Appointments

Growing agitation is sweeping through the Ketu South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as grassroots supporters and ward foot soldiers express frustration over what they describe as unfair neglect in government appointments.

The party’s Constituency Chairman, Solomon Bright Kumordzi, voiced the concerns during the National Chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s recent visit to the area on Friday 17th October 2025.

Speaking on Holy 98.5 FM’s “The Point Show” on October 25, the Constituency Vice Chairman, Mr. Seth Abelliah, revealed that several party members feel disappointed and sidelined, despite the constituency’s massive contribution to the NDC’s electoral victory on December 7, 2024.

According to him, the grassroots had high hopes that Ketu South Executives would be given opportunities in key governmental and state institutional roles, but those expectations have not yet been met.

Mr. Abelliah echoed the sentiments of Chairman Solomon Bright Kumordzi, emphasizing that it is healthier for party members to openly express their grievances to the appropriate authorities rather than harbor silent resentment. He noted that constructive dialogue and honesty within the party rank and file are crucial for unity, growth, and rebuilding stronger structures ahead of future challenges.

“Ketu South has always been the heartbeat of the NDC — our people have sacrificed time, energy, and resources for the party’s success. Yet, when it comes to appointments, our contributions seem forgotten,” Chairman Kumordzi lamented.

Several ward organizers and youth activists echoed similar sentiments, calling on national leadership to recognize loyal party workers who helped secure victory at the polls. They stressed that inclusivity in appointments would motivate the base and strengthen unity within the party ahead of future elections.

When News Volta interacted with some residents and party faithful on the streets of Ketu South, many expressed deep disappointment and frustration over what they called “a worrying pattern of neglect.” They argued that those who stood at the forefront of the campaign, rain or shine, deserve recognition and representation in the new administration.

However, this discontent has not dimmed the constituency’s loyalty to the NDC. Party elders and local leaders are urging calm among supporters while assuring them that their concerns have been communicated directly to the national leadership for redress.

Political observers believe the situation in Ketu South — long regarded as one of the strongholds of the NDC — highlights broader concerns within the party about equitable distribution of appointments and recognition of grassroots efforts
