Killers of Faith in the House of God

A Call to True Christian Living and Responsibility

In every generation, God calls His people to examine their hearts. One of the most serious questions a believer must ask himself is this: “Is there anything in my life that I value more than my soul?”

Jesus warned clearly:

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”Mark 8:36

Many believers say they follow Christ, yet deep within there may be hidden things that weaken obedience—pride, unforgiveness, dishonesty, secret sin, or the desire to please people more than God. These are not small matters. When left unchecked, they can slowly draw a person away from the path of righteousness.

A Serious Question for Every Believer

Is there something you are waiting for before fully obeying God?
Is there a correction you refuse to accept?
Is there a habit you protect even though it weakens your spiritual life?

The truth is that sometimes the greatest barrier between a believer and a holy life is not lack of knowledge but lack of surrender.

“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”Hebrews 3:15

The Responsibility of Every Christian

Winning souls is not only the responsibility of evangelists and pastors. Every believer plays a role in helping a new convert grow in faith.

A simple way to understand this responsibility:

  • Soul winner invites and introduces a person to Christ.
  • Teacher or preacher explains the message of salvation and discipleship.
  • Church members demonstrate what a Christ-like life looks like daily.

In many cases, the daily example of believers has the strongest influence on a new convert.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”Matthew 5:16

If our actions contradict the message we preach, we can unintentionally damage someone’s growing faith.

How Faith Can Be Damaged

Consider a new believer who enters church expecting to see a community filled with love, honesty, and humility. If that person instead encounters arguments, dishonesty, gossip, or selfish behavior, confusion may arise.

The message of Christ is powerful, but people often judge that message by the behavior of those who claim to follow Him.

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for edification.”Ephesians 4:29

Every Christian must remember that someone may be learning about Jesus by watching our conduct.

A Call to Authentic Christianity

The solution is not to pretend perfection but to pursue genuine transformation. God calls believers to:

  • Walk in humility
  • Speak truthfully
  • Show love and patience
  • Live consistently with the teachings of Christ

“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”James 1:22

When believers live with sincerity, they become powerful witnesses to the grace of God.

Christian faith is not only about attending church or hearing sermons. It is about allowing Christ to transform our hearts so that our lives reflect His character.

Every believer must ask:

  • Am I helping others grow in faith?
  • Or am I unintentionally weakening their trust?

The church becomes stronger when each member chooses truth, integrity, and love in everyday actions.

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”John 13:35
