Speaking at a grand durbar of Chiefs, Queen mothers and Elders to climax activities that marked the festival at Weta, the traditional capital on Saturday October 26th 2024, The Paramount Chief & Overlord Of Wet Traditional Area, And President, Weta Traditional Council, Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI call peace and unity among the chief and queen of Weta in ordered to safe guard, promot and developed the traditional area.
According Togbiuga Akpo Ashiakpor VI Weta Traditional Area, unfortunately is gradually carving a very dangerous niche for itself as a place for perpetual chieftaincy disputes. It is succinctly clear to him therefore that some chiefs and citizens of Weta for their own selfish parochial interest have turned themselves into conflict contractors and are doing anything possible to stoke fire into resolvable family feuds and creating a mountain out of a mole hills, some of elders within Weta Traditional Councul are creating aptly making it difficult to unity for peace and development.
Mesnwhile Weta Traditional Area is blessed with enormous resources and the greatest of which is the human resource to turned the fortune of our dear Weta Land.
Togbiuga Akpo Ashiakpor VI insist that it well applicable if they secured their subjects and their honour! as a matter of necessity fully harness all these potentials to the benefit of all.
For we alone, we can do very little but together we can do a lot, all the sub-chiefs, both left and right wing chiefs must be reminded by the fact that if we want to go far, then we must go together.
Having endured years of needless litigations as a Traditional Area, largely chieftaincy disputes and land litigations, it should be obvious to all of us by now that these litigations have never inured to anyone’s benefit. Peaceful resolution to conflicts through our chieftaincy arbitrations, mediations and negotiation processes is still the way forward if we are to remain a unified people with a common goal and objective.
“I therefore strongly admonish and appeal to all Torgbuiwo, Mamawo, Dumegawo, fellow citizens of Weta Home and Abroad to rally around the paramouncy and help rebuild Weta Traditional Area with unity of purpose in our collective interest to stand in unity and resist the schemes and advances of all nation wreckers and enemies of progress in order to ensure sustainable development in our communities” he added.
