The Parliamentary candidate for Ketu South constituency in the Volta Region, Samuel Wisdom Doe Haligah has donated 600 dual desks through the Municipal Assembly which have been distributed among schools in the municipality.
The donation, according to him, forms part of his efforts towards promoting quality education in the constituency.
The intervention follows a call on him by some head of basic and secondary school in the district about infrastructural challenges in the various basic schools in the Ketu South Municipal.
In a brief address, he advised the authorities to make good use of the desks in order to keep in classrooms, children who skip school to avoid sitting on floors and benches.
He assured the Assembly of his commitment to providing teaching and learning materials and motivational package for schools.
The Mr. Haligah pleaded with the school authorities to ensure that the furniture are maintained.
However in the past month beyond , he had donated over 200 street light to promote education activities in the night hours and combat crimes in the municipal.
The schools including, St Paul Senior High School, Somè senior High School, Klikor Senior High Technical, Three Town Senior High School, Hatsukorpe Basic, Huime Agordome Basic, Ansaru Islamic Basic, Ziome Basic , Logove Zion Basic, Kpedzakorpe M/A Basic and among others have received the dual desk.
Meanwhile Ketu South is one of the largest municipal in the Volta region, with rapid growth of students and pupil population, however, infrastructure remains a major challenge.
