Ignore NPP’s Outlandish And Fantasy Target Of 500,000 Votes In The Volta Region – Kafui Agbleze

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region is appealing to the discerning people of Ghana, especially those in the Volta Region, to outrightly disregard the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Director Mr. Richard Ahiagba’s laughable claim that his party will secure a staggering 500,000 votes in the Volta Region in the December 7 elections.

This comes when the Regional Communications Officer for the party Mr Sorkpa Kafui Agbleze issued a press communique to the good people and party followers to disregard the unrealistic target of NPP which are their deception in the Volta Region.

According to Sorkpa Kafui Agbleze, for NPP to have assumed that they could win nearly half of the votes in the Volta Region is not only absurd but frankly insulting to the intelligence of Voltarians. That NPP has, for decades, set one unrealistic target after another in this region, and each time, they have failed miserably.

“In a facts review, 2016, they set a far-fetched target of winning 30% of the presidential vote in the Volta Region. The result? They managed a mere 10.81%. Four years later in 2020, with similar inflated expectations, they captured only 14.14% of the vote, despite their attempts to convince Ghanaians that the NDC’s stronghold had weakened. Clearly, these figures highlight their continuous pattern of overpromising and underperforming

But as we speak now , Volta Region currently has 1,023,147 registered voters. For the NPP to claim that they will win nearly 500,000 of these votes is simply wishful thinking, bordering on fantasy. This target would require a level of trust and support that the NPP has never earned and will never receive” Kafui added.

Mr. Kafui believed, the NDC in the Volta Region, are confident that the people of the region know who truly has their interests at heart. For reason, NDC will remain committed, by protecting their historic stronghold and ensuring that the Volta Region continues to stand firm with the NDC. And they will continued to urge the public to see through the NPP’s empty promises and stand with us in rejecting the propaganda that they continue to peddle.

IGNORE NPP’S OUTLANDISH AND FANTASY TARGET OF 500,000 VOTES IN THE VOLTA REGION

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region calls on the discerning people of Ghana, especially those in the Volta Region, to outrightly disregard the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Director Mr. Richard Ahiagba’s laughable claim that his party will secure a staggering 500,000 votes in the Volta Region in the December 7 elections. This unrealistic target reveals more about the NPP’s disconnect with the reality on the ground than any actual possibility of their success in this region. Mr. Ahiagba, it appears, is merely seeking to amuse himself with grandiose claims that he well knows, deep down, are unachievable.

For the NPP to assume that they could win nearly half of the votes in the Volta Region is not only absurd but frankly insulting to the intelligence of Voltarians. The NPP has, for decades, set one unrealistic target after another in this region, and each time, they have failed miserably. Let us review the facts: in 2016, they set a far-fetched target of winning 30% of the presidential vote in the Volta Region. The result? They managed a mere 10.81%. Four years later in 2020, with similar inflated expectations, they captured only 14.14% of the vote, despite their attempts to convince Ghanaians that the NDC’s stronghold had weakened. Clearly, these figures highlight their continuous pattern of overpromising and underperforming.

In fact, the NPP’s performance in the Volta Region has been very inconsistent and underwhelming for well over a decade. Since 2008, their numbers have fluctuated without any steady increase: 15.38% in 2008, dropping to 12.9% in 2012, plummeting further to 10.18% in 2016, and only slightly ticking up to 14.14% in 2020. This failure to make meaningful inroads is evidence of the NPP’s disconnect from the region’s people and aspirations. And yet, here they are again, attempting to deceive Ghanaians with a new lofty target that clearly defies common sense, logic and any sound electoral strategy.

The Volta Region currently has 1,023,147 registered voters. For the NPP to claim they will win nearly 500,000 of these votes is simply wishful thinking, bordering on fantasy. This target would require a level of trust and support that the NPP has never earned and will never receive. After all, this is the same party that has presided over years of excruciating economic hardship, with skyrocketing prices of goods and services, rampant unemployment, and a depreciating cedi. The people of the Volta Region, who have endured enough from the NPP’s economic mismanagement, are well aware that promises from this administration mean very little.

Instead of focusing on unscientific and delusional goals, perhaps the NPP should take a closer look at the devastating damage they have inflicted on our economy and the lives of ordinary Ghanaians. Their penchant for making unrealistic projections only reinforces the disconnect between their rhetoric and reality. This is the kind of falsehood that got the NPP into power, but it is also the reason they are rapidly losing credibility across the nation.

We, the NDC in the Volta Region, are confident that the people of this region know who truly has their interests at heart. We remain committed to protecting our historic stronghold and ensuring that the Volta Region continues to stand firm with the NDC. We urge the public to see through the NPP’s empty promises and stand with us in rejecting the propaganda that they continue to peddle.

Signed,
Sorkpa Kafui Agbleze
NDC Volta Regional Communications Officer
