The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has suspended the Principal of the International College of Physicians and Surgeons Ghana, Dr. Frederick Annaba, pending further investigations into matters concerning the institution’s administration.
According to the ministry, the decision was taken as part of efforts to ensure accountability, transparency, and proper management within medical training institutions in the country.
The suspension takes immediate effect while authorities conduct a comprehensive review of the issues surrounding the college’s operations.
Officials say the move is intended to allow investigations to proceed without interference and to safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s medical education system.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that the action should not be interpreted as a final judgment but rather a precautionary administrative step to allow due process.
The government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening governance and oversight within the health sector, especially in institutions responsible for training future medical professionals.
Further details regarding the investigation are expected to be released once the review process is completed.
