NPP Introduces Online Membership Registration with Verification Safeguards

By Hebrews Pouyeli Kumako

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has introduced an online membership registration system aimed at expanding participation and making it easier for Ghanaians to join the party.

Speaking to the press, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, explained that the digital platform is designed particularly for individuals who may find it difficult to register physically at polling stations due to time constraints.

Mr. Kodua addressed concerns that the online system could allow political opponents to infiltrate the party’s internal processes.

According to him, while any Ghanaian is free to register as a member of the party, strict verification procedures will determine who qualifies to vote or contest in internal party elections.

“Every Ghanaian has the right to register to become a member of the NPP. However, to qualify to vote or contest, there will be verification to ensure that those who have joined have done so in good faith,” he explained.

He added that the party will implement safeguards to ensure that the system is not abused by individuals seeking to undermine internal party activities.

Weekend Physical Registration Nationwide

Alongside the online system, the NPP will also conduct physical registration exercises at polling stations across the country.

The General Secretary announced that polling station meetings will be held in all constituencies to ensure that party members are adequately informed and able to register.

According to him, every constituency will organize polling station meetings on Saturdays and Sundays throughout March, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., across more than 40,000 polling stations nationwide.

The exercise is expected to take place on the following dates:

March 14–15

March 22–23

March 28–29

The initiative forms part of the party’s broader effort to expand its membership base, improve grassroots participation, and strengthen internal democratic processes.

Party officials say the combination of digital and physical registration will ensure wider accessibility while maintaining the integrity of the party’s internal electoral system.
