Mafi Agbedrafor Residents Lament Water Crisis Amid Passing Pipelines

By Hebrews Pouyeli Kumako

Residents of Mafi Agbedrafor in the Adaklu District are raising concerns over a persistent lack of access to clean water, despite major pipelines running through their community.

Located just a short distance from Mafi Kumase, the community finds itself in what residents describe as a painful irony—watching water flow to neighboring towns while their own taps remain dry.

According to residents, pipelines supplying water across the district pass directly through Mafi Agbedrafor, yet the community has been excluded from regular distribution, leaving households without water for weeks at a time.

“We see water flowing to other communities every day, but we don’t have access to it,” a resident lamented.

With no reliable supply, many residents have resorted to unsafe water sources, including artificial dams, to meet their daily needs. Health experts warn that such conditions expose residents to waterborne diseases and serious health risks.

Residents say repeated appeals to the Community Water and Sanitation Agency have not yielded results, deepening frustration within the community.

They are now calling on government agencies, development partners, and stakeholders to urgently intervene and ensure equitable access to clean water.

Community members insist that access to potable water is a basic human right, and are demanding immediate action to address what they describe as a long-standing injustice.

“Every community around us has water. Why not Mafi Agbedrafor? We deserve clean water. We deserve dignity,” residents emphasized.
