Volta Region Begins 2026–2029 Composite Budget Hearings

The Volta Regional 2026–2029 Composite Budget hearings commenced on Monday in the Ho West District and continued on Tuesday in Ketu North, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on the region’s development priorities and financial planning.

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, who attended the sessions, emphasized the importance of the hearings as a cornerstone of transparent and inclusive governance. He noted that the process ensures that Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) align their plans with both regional and national development goals.

Also in attendance was the Technical Advisor to the Minister of Finance, Alhaji Abubakari Ibrahim Dey, who called for strict fiscal discipline and adherence to spending ceilings, stressing the need for prudent resource management in the face of economic challenges.

The hearings, which form part of the Ministry of Finance’s fiscal planning calendar, are expected to cover all MMDAs in the region. Assemblies have been directed to submit their final approved budgets by November 8, 2025, for consolidation into the national budget framework.
