The Ruth Adzo Asamoah Memorial Foundation (RAAM Foundation), in partnership with the KGL Foundation, has organized a women’s empowerment and business mentorship programme for members of two Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The programme benefited 42 women, including 30 cassava processors from Amenuveve VSLA at Mafi Dadoboe and 12 members of the Kutsrekuku VSLA at Mafi Wute, with the aim of strengthening their business skills, financial management, and economic resilience.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ariel Kegyingyi, Volta Regional Representative of the RAAM and KGL Foundations, said the initiative targets vulnerable women, particularly single mothers and young entrepreneurs, to help them build sustainable livelihoods.
“Through mentorship and continuous support, we are equipping these women to withstand economic and climate-related shocks while growing viable businesses,” he said.
Resource person Ms. Gifty Napor, an entrepreneur, encouraged participants to remain determined despite challenges, sharing her journey from modest beginnings to business success and stressing discipline and collaboration.
Mr. Samuel Gomashie, a Business Advisor, trained the women on record keeping, savings, credit management, and linking their VSLAs to formal financial institutions, urging transparency to attract future support.
Organizers expressed confidence that the training would position participants to access future funding and business opportunities as part of broader efforts to promote women’s empowerment and inclusive economic growth in Ghana.
