Ketu South: Over 50 Youth Trained In Aquaculture

Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture collaboration with R&B Farm Ghana trained over 50 youth within the Ketu South Municipal in Aquatic farming.

The initiative dubbed “Promoting Sustainable Cage Aquaculture in Ghana”.
The participants were taken through topics, including types of fish farming, feeding technics, types of cages or ponds, security for your farm, controlling diseases, and germs and water hygiene and treatments

Mr. Andrew Kyeremonteng , a lead consultant of R&B Farm Ghana, in an interview with Volta Forum GH said, the project is to empower and transform the livelihoods of the youth in the Ketu South aims at impacting knowledge, sustainable technologies, and expertise in cage aquaculture.

He said it was also to empower rural communities through sustainable cage culture and enhance employment, incomes, and nutritional status of rural households through productive and sustainable cage farming on dry land with tarpaulins.

He said it was also to establish linkages and partnerships for improved rural entrepreneurship and livelihoods.

Mr Samuel Wisdom Doe Haligah the parliamentary candidate for NPP also seize the moment and caution the participants to utilize this opportunity from this NPP government because the surging demand for fish in Ghana today presents a promising opportunity for economic growth through the aquaculture and mariculture sectors. “However, despite their potential, these sectors remain largely untapped by young men and women seeking employment and work opportunities for I entreat all you to advantage of this program ” Mr Haligah add.

Mr Nicholas Kondo, one of the beneficiaries of the programme, interacted with Volta Forum GH thanked the organizers and government, said what he learnt was going a long way to help him invest more in fish farming
