The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced a series of short-term measures aimed at improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply in the Volta and Oti Regions.
In a joint press statement issued on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, and monitored on Channel One TV by News Volta, the two power sector agencies acknowledged the persistent power supply challenges confronting the regions, explaining that they have historically not been served by a dedicated transmission line. While long-term plans are underway to construct a dedicated transmission infrastructure, interim technical interventions are being rolled out to address the situation.
As part of the improvement measures, a planned power outage will occur at the Asiekpe Substation on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The temporary shutdown will allow engineers to undertake a load redistribution exercise designed to enhance system stability and ensure a more reliable power supply.
The interruption will affect electricity consumers in Ho, Asiekpe, Sogakope, Kpeve, Kpando, Kadjebi, and surrounding communities during the period.
GRIDCo and ECG assured customers that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to complete the maintenance works within the scheduled timeframe in order to minimise inconvenience.
The agencies expressed regret over the disruption and appealed for public patience and cooperation, reiterating their commitment to stabilising electricity supply across the Volta and Oti Regions.
