The 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Secretariat has signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Accra with Hunan Architectural Design Institute Group to drive the development of the Volta Economic Corridor.
The agreement is expected to generate up to 500,000 direct jobs through a state-of-the-art industrial planning framework backed by major infrastructure investments.

The project will focus on agro-ecological and industrial park development, including the design of roads, water supply systems, pipeline networks, and sewage treatment facilities. It will also include technical training and knowledge transfer between Ghanaian planners and engineers from the HADI Group.
Stretching from Tema through Akosombo, across the Afram Plains, and through Yeji, Buipe, and Yapei to Tamale, the corridor is envisioned as Ghana’s first net-zero green economic zone.
The initiative will integrate over two million hectares of arable land into agro-industrial parks, linking them to manufacturing hubs and multimodal transport systems, all supported by structured private investment.

Additionally, renewable energy projects along the corridor are expected to reduce electricity costs to below 7 US cents per kilowatt hour, making Ghana’s manufacturing sector more competitive.
The partnership will also see both parties collaborate on the master planning and spatial design of key development zones, positioning the Volta Economic Corridor as a major driver of economic transformation.
