The Paramount Chief and the
President for Weta Traditional Council, Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI has advised politicians and party communicator, leader both Parliamentary and Presidential candidate of the verious Political parties to avoid engaging in politics of insults and instead focus on promoting their policies as they campaigns ahead of the 2024 December 7 polls.
During the celebration of Weta Home Coming And Rice Festival Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor sought the support of policy dailoge during their compaigns in the up coming election 2024.
He encouraged vividly NDC and NPP to centre their campaign on policy discussions, emphasizing the importance of refraining from insults while reaching out to voters.
“All I will say is that all political candidates for election 2024 I support their vision. I will urge them to clearly explain your policies to Ghanaians so they understand what you’re capable of. Focus on your campaign and your messages and desist from politics of insult.
“People will be losing confidence in political parties if a majority of them say they will not take part in elections and that will greatly affect the affairs of political parties. We are hoping that the political parties are able to implement their policies if they are given the nod, so there can be peace and stability in the country” Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor Advised.
He also called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to be transparent, impartial, and truthful in the conduct of the 2024 election. Continued to say, to all aspiring candidates, we wish to remind them that there is a greater need now than ever to restore credibility into our body politics.
He continued by saying that the political elites have lost substantial credibility before the ordinary Ghanaian citizen as a result of lack of principles positions and this has unfortunately rubbed off all state institutions and statutory bodies including the chieftaincy institution and we cannot afford to sink further otherwise the repercussions can be dire for our dear nation as a whole.
