Farmers in the Ketu South Municipality have received a significant boost as the Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, distributed 2,000 bags of fertilizer to support local agricultural production and enhance food security in the area.
The intervention, which forms part of the MP’s broader commitment to promoting sustainable farming and rural livelihoods, aims to empower smallholder farmers to improve yields and strengthen the local economy.
At a brief ceremony to hand over the fertilizers, Hon. Gomashie emphasized the importance of supporting the agricultural sector as the backbone of Ghana’s economy. “Our farmers are the lifeline of this constituency and the nation as a whole,” she said. “This support is a practical way of showing that we value their hard work and are committed to ensuring that agriculture remains productive and profitable.”
She noted that the initiative aligns with government’s agricultural transformation and food security agenda, as well as the 24-Hour Economy policy, which encourages continuous productivity and innovation across sectors.

Hon. Gomashie also assured farmers of her continued advocacy for fair access to agricultural inputs, training, and infrastructure. She encouraged them to use the fertilizers effectively to improve crop output and sustain soil fertility, especially during the current farming season.
The distribution exercise attracted local farmers, assembly members, traditional leaders, and representatives from the Department of Agriculture, who commended the MP for her hands-on approach to community development.

Beneficialries ( famers), expressed gratitude for the timely support and were grateful to the MP for remembering their needs. That this will go a long way to improve their harvest and incomes.
Agricultural officers present also emphasized the need for continued collaboration between policymakers and farmers to achieve the nation’s food sufficiency goals.
