Philanthropist and traditional leader, Felix Akonta Akakpo (Torgbui Tenuvi II), has donated sporting equipment and cash support to five Senior High Schools in the Ketu South Municipality to enhance the successful organization of their Inter-House Sports Festivals.
The beneficiary schools are:
- St. Paul’s Senior High School
- Aflao Senior High Technical School
- Three Town Senior High School
- Somé Senior High School
- Klikor Senior High School
Each of the five schools received an identical package of items aimed at promoting sports development and student participation. The donations to each school included:
- One (1) set of jerseys
- Three (3) footballs
- Two (2) volleyballs
- Two (2) handballs
- Two (2) basketballs
- One (1) stopwatch
- Medals
- Cash amount of GH¢2,000.00
Presenting the items, Felix Akonta Akakpo, who is also known in traditional circles as Torgbui Tenuvi II, said the gesture forms part of his commitment to youth development, physical fitness, and talent nurturing within the municipality. He noted that inter-house sports festivals play a critical role in discovering young talents, instilling discipline, and promoting teamwork among students.
He encouraged students to take sports seriously alongside academics, stressing that sports can open doors to national and international opportunities when properly developed.
School authorities and students expressed gratitude for the timely support, describing the donation as a major boost to the smooth organization of their sports festivals. They commended the philanthropist for consistently investing in education and youth empowerment in Ketu South.
The donation has been widely welcomed by residents, with many calling it a clear demonstration of community leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
