GHANA REKINDLES THE AFRICAN STORY ON THE WORLD STAGE — DZIFA GOMASHIE INSPIRES GLOBAL UNITY AT UN TOURISM ASSEMBLY IN RIYADH

Ghana once again stood tall on the global tourism stage as the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, passionately championed Africa’s cultural revival and unity at the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

With her signature grace and conviction, the Minister reaffirmed Ghana’s enduring role as the “heartbeat of African heritage,” reminding the world that Ghana’s story is not only one of history, but of hope, healing, and shared humanity.

Addressing the global assembly, Hon. Gomashie emphasized that Ghana’s tourism agenda is deeply rooted in reconnecting the African diaspora to the land of their ancestors — a mission powerfully expressed through iconic initiatives such as the Year of Return, Beyond the Return, Emancipation Day, and the upcoming Black Star Experience.

“Ghana stands as a beacon of unity, identity, and peaceful coexistence,” she declared. “Through tourism, we celebrate our shared heritage and inspire a collective future. We welcome the world to experience December in Ghana — a true festival of our spirit, creativity, and togetherness.”

Her heartfelt address drew admiration across the assembly, as she painted a vivid portrait of Ghana as both a custodian of African identity and a bridge between continents.

The Minister also highlighted the success of the Afro-Gastro Festival, a celebration that brought together nations of African descent through the power of food — the universal language of culture. With participation from 14 diplomatic missions and the African Union Development Agency, the event showcased Ghana’s growing influence in uniting cultures through gastronomy, art, and shared values.

Industry observers noted that Hon. Gomashie’s presence and message resonated deeply with delegates, many of whom applauded Ghana’s leadership in cultural tourism and heritage preservation. Her emphasis on “the living story of Africa” reminded the world that Ghana’s tourism model is not only about destinations — but about identity, belonging, and rebirth.

As she extended a warm invitation to the global community for the “December in GH” festivities, Hon. Gomashie’s message struck a powerful emotional chord — a call for reconnection and rediscovery.

“Ours is not just a journey of travel,” she said, “but a return to self — a return to Africa.”

With this powerful address, Ghana once again positioned itself at the forefront of Africa’s cultural renaissance, rekindling the ancestral flame that binds generations — past, present, and future.
