The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, on the advice of the Oti Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has imposed a curfew on Nkwanta Township of the Oti Region.
The curfew, from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily, takes effect from Tuesday 8th July, 2024, until further notice.
This decision follows some chieftaincy disputes in the area.
The government has urged chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to exercise restraint and use non-violent means to address their grievances and ensure peace.
Additionally, there is a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons in Nkwanta Township.
Any person found with such items will be arrested and prosecuted.

Government wishes to appeal to all to exercise restraint and to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of all their conflicts and disputes.
Meanwhile, Government will like to reiterate that, there is a ban on all persons in Nkwanta Township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
