The Ketu South Municipal Assembly has commenced the construction of a permanent office complex for the Municipal Health Directorate within the Assembly’s premises, bringing long-awaited relief to a directorate that has struggled with office accommodation challenges for several years.

The project is solely funded by philanthropist Mr. Felix Akonta Akakpo, a native of Lente-Wute Known as Torgbui Tenuvi II n the Ketu South Municipality, as part of his commitment to supporting health service delivery and local development.

A News Volta visit to the project site at the Ketu South Municipal Assembly confirmed that construction works are actively ongoing, with artisans and labourers on site executing various stages of the building.

Speaking to News Volta, Torgbi Tenuvi II disclosed that preparations are underway for an official sod-cutting ceremony, which will formally inaugurate the project and outline its scope and timeline.

He explained that his decision to fully sponsor the office complex was driven by a strong desire to contribute meaningfully to the development of his home municipality, particularly in the health sector, which he described as a cornerstone of community wellbeing.

“I am determined to see Ketu South develop. Supporting the Municipal Health Directorate is part of my contribution to strengthening public health delivery and improving working conditions for health officials,” he said.

The new office complex is expected to provide adequate office space, improved coordination, and a conducive working environment for health administrators, thereby enhancing service delivery across the municipality.

Officials of the Assembly have welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful, especially as the Health Directorate has, over the years, operated under constrained conditions due to inadequate office facilities.

The initiative adds to growing private-sector and citizen-led support for development in Ketu South, highlighting the role of philanthropy in complementing government efforts at the local level.
