The Volta River Authority (VRA) has officially handed over a Cashew Demonstration Farm to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) at Akaayaw No. 1 in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region.
The project, which is one of several interventions by the Authority to improve livelihood while protecting the Volta Lake, was in collaboration with the Biakoye District Department of Food and Agriculture and fully funded by the VRA Cashew for Land (Cashland) Project.
The initiative by the VRA is to help generate income for riparian communities while preventing siltation and segmentation of the Volta Lake.
