Mawuli School @75: 2000 Year Group Renovates Iconic “White Block” as Legacy Project

As part of activities marking Mawuli School’s 75th Anniversary, the 2000 Year Group of the Old Mawuli Students Union (OMSU) has renovated and modernized the school’s historic “White Block” building at a cost of GHC 300,000. The refurbished block will be officially handed over to the school on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

The project, which forms part of the group’s 25th Anniversary legacy initiative, included full structural repairs, new roofing, painting, replacement of classroom furniture, and upgraded interior facilities to enhance teaching and learning.

According to Mr. Anthony Kafui Kanyi, Media and Publicity Chair of the group, the renovation was driven by sentimental value and a desire to preserve the school’s heritage. “The ‘White Block’ shaped our memories and values. Restoring it is our way of giving back to the school that made us who we are,” he said.

Ahead of the handover, the group will donate items to the Ho Central Female Prisons on Friday, October 24, promoting compassion and social responsibility in line with Mawuli School’s values of Head, Heart, and Hand.

Founded in 1950 by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Mawuli School continues to be a beacon of discipline and excellence in Ghana’s education system. The 2000 Year Group’s initiative reinforces the enduring Mawulian spirit of gratitude, service, and leadership.
