Govt Moves to Tackle Tidal Waves in Anlo as Sea Defence Brings Relief to Ketu South

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has highlighted government efforts to address the ongoing tidal wave challenges affecting coastal communities in the Anlo area.
Speaking during a traditional council engagement, at Aflao Paramouncy on Thursday 23rd April 2026 , the Minister noted that communities such as Agavedzi, Salakope, and Amutsinu endured years of devastation from tidal waves, leading to loss of homes and displacement of residents.



He stated that the National Democratic Congress government, under John Dramani Mahama, has taken steps to bring relief through the sea defence project, which is aimed at protecting vulnerable coastal communities.
According to him, the project represents a major intervention to safeguard lives and property in Ketu South.


With the plans to Address Current Situation in Anlo
the Minister further assured that government is actively working on additional measures to address the current tidal wave situation in Anlo, with plans focused on srengthening coastal protection systems, supporting affected communities.

He called on residents to remain patient and cooperative, assuring them of government’s commitment to fully addressing the coastal challenges.
