Akosombo Dam spillage is a deliberate attempt by the NPP to rig the 2024 Elections – BOT alleges

A Chattered Economist and leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has admonished the leadership of the party to devise a strategy to counter the designed agenda of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to frustrate potential voters in the NDC’s strongholds so as to win the 2024 elections.

According to him, the potential man-made floods that took place in the party’s strongholds are a deliberate attempt to rig the 2024 general elections.

Mr Takyi alleged that the Akosombo Dam spillage to allow excess water from the Akosombo and Kpong dams by the Volta River Authority (VRA) in the Eastern Region is a long term calculated rigging strategy by the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) to disenfranchise potential voters in the lower basin of the Volta River.

Mr Takyi claims the spillage will deny a lot of eligible voters the right to vote in the NDC’s strongholds in the run-up to the December 7, 2024 polls.

He emphasized that the spilling of excess water from the dams, which opened the flood gate in the Volta Region, is utterly intentional to create dissatisfaction among voters in the NDC’s strongholds.

He detailed that the areas targeted by this alleged agenda include Volta, Bono East, and parts of the Eastern Regions.
