Birthday of Service: NDC Deputy Women’s Organizer Extends Love and Support to Inmates and Police Officers Across Ketu South

What would ordinarily have been a private birthday celebration turned into an extraordinary act of compassion and community service as the Ketu South Constituency Deputy Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Xornam Favour Alayi-Hussey, popularly known as Xornam Favour Ignatius-Dei and traditional title holder Mama Dzewoe II, marked her 30th Birthday Anniversary by reaching out to inmates in police custody across the constituency.

In what is believed to be one of the first constituency-wide humanitarian visits of its kind, Mama Dzewoe II toured all five police cells within the Ketu South Constituency, beginning from the two police cells in Aflao before continuing to Denu, Tokor, and Agbozume.

The outreach brought smiles and renewed hope to dozens of inmates as she distributed cooked food, toiletries, drinking water, and other essential personal items to support their welfare while in custody.

Beyond the material donations, the exercise focused on restoring hope and human dignity. Special prayers were offered for the inmates, asking for God’s mercy, protection, wisdom, and transformation while encouraging them never to give up on life despite their current circumstances.

The emotional moments of prayer and encouragement created an atmosphere of reflection and hope, with several inmates expressing gratitude for the rare gesture of kindness shown to them.

Recognizing the dedication of the Ghana Police Service personnel working in difficult conditions, Mama Dzewoe II also presented assorted items to officers stationed at the various police facilities in appreciation of their commitment to maintaining peace, security, and law and order within the municipality.

Speaking during the outreach, she emphasized that compassion should extend to every member of society, including those in conflict with the law.

She noted that many inmates simply need guidance, encouragement, and opportunities for rehabilitation to rebuild their lives and become responsible citizens.

The birthday celebration also became a platform for meaningful interaction as she spent time listening to inmates’ personal stories, challenges, and aspirations, offering words of encouragement and assuring them that their present situation should not define their future.

Following the engagement, she disclosed that discussions are underway to identify inmates who may qualify for legal, social, or humanitarian assistance, with the objective of helping deserving individuals regain their freedom and successfully reintegrate into society where appropriate.

According to her, society has a collective responsibility not only to punish wrongdoing but also to promote rehabilitation, restoration, and second chances for those willing to change.

Residents and observers who witnessed the outreach praised the initiative, describing it as an inspiring demonstration of servant leadership and humanitarian commitment.

Many called for similar interventions from political leaders, philanthropists, religious organizations, and civil society groups to support vulnerable persons and strengthen rehabilitation efforts within Ghana’s justice system.

As she celebrated three decades of life, Mama Dzewoe II chose not to receive gifts but instead shared love, hope, and compassion with some of the most forgotten members of society, leaving behind a powerful message that true leadership is measured by service to humanity.
