The ongoing expansion of the Volta Regional Hospital in Ho has reached 65 percent completion, marking a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery across the Volta Region.
The ambitious project, aimed at transforming the region’s premier referral facility into a more modern and efficient healthcare center, is expected to improve access to specialized medical care and reduce pressure on existing hospital infrastructure.
According to project managers, major structural works have been completed, with current activities focused on interior finishing, installation of medical systems, and external works. The expanded facility will include additional wards, upgraded emergency and diagnostic units, modern operating theatres, and improved outpatient services.
Health authorities say the expansion is part of government’s broader commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to quality medical services across the country.
Speaking on the importance of the project, stakeholders noted that the current capacity of the Volta Regional Hospital has long been overstretched due to increasing patient numbers from within the region and neighboring areas.
